Salesforce is one of the top brand names for sales-based CRM. The platform ranked as the number one CRM provider for the 10th consecutive year in 2023. There are plenty of reasons beyond its wide-ranging popularity to employ Salesforce for customer relationship management. Oracle markets its Experience Cloud of sales and marketing solutions (Oracle CX Sales Cloud) as an all-in-one platform that combines social media, call center, mobile and in-store contact points. It focuses on customer satisfaction and social relationship management, helping you improve client communication through various channels.

Oracle CX Cloud Suite enables leading organizations to deliver great customer experiences throughout the customer’s journey, from the prospecting stage to post-purchase and beyond. It lets you effectively engage with clients across physical and digital channels, dramatically improving customer retention, up-selling and brand advocacy. Beyond generic CRM capabilities, the solution helps users streamline and sustain customer relationships.

With a slightly lower price tag than Salesforce, Oracle could be a perfect fit for your business (and your budget!) but it is less comprehensive than the industry giant.

Oracle CX outperforms Salesforce in AI-based sales recommendations. It helps sales reps go after opportunities with the highest win probabilities and provides the next-best actions. The platform is also better at contact mapping, contact recommendation, and email verification and suggestions. Neither solution supports group appointment scheduling.

While it doesn’t offer automated voicemails and a built-in caller, Oracle CX integrates with third-party apps to deliver call recording, logging and SMS scheduling functionalities. The solution doesn’t have AI to analyze emails and also lacks call tagging and reminders. Both platforms need integrations or additional features to manage SMS communication.

Oracle CX and Salesforce Sales Cloud rank similarly for most of this module’s capabilities, according to our Jumpstart Platform data. Oracle provides advanced global search and work area search capabilities. Integration with Oracle Documents Cloud Service enables users to access content from any location with role-based access. You can share files and attachments using links. However, the solution doesn’t support document conversion.

Lead Management

Oracle CX has AI functionalities that offer salespeople recommendations about which leads to tackle first and next-best actions. It automatically assigns sales reps leads based on geography, lead score and department. Oracle provides card scanner capabilities and lets you capture lead information from website visits and social media interactions.

Salesforce Sales Cloud enables users to automatically route leads to relevant sales reps. The platform is better at lead scoring and lets you choose factors like demographics, industry and company size to score incoming leads.

While Salesforce is good at capturing leads from various sources, it’s inadequate at capturing prospects from LinkedIn. Oracle, on the other hand, integrates with LinkedIn Sales Navigator and allows you to identify and communicate with leads on LinkedIn.

With Oracle CX, users can create and sort opportunities. It’s better at AI in opportunity management, provides sales reps with next-best actions and determines how often to reach out to clients post-sales. You can create task templates, action items and fields for every sales stage.

However, Oracle lacks journey designer features and doesn’t support sales pipelines as well as Salesforce does.

Salesforce Sales Cloud offers a base catalog of all goods and services. Users can customize products and add prices and discounts to opportunities. Set up product families and organize products with associated price lists with a price book.

In Oracle CX, you can create product catalogs and list products along with their descriptions. You can also create, edit, import and make a product group hierarchy.

The platform needs additional modules to customize products and portals, hinting it’s not as tailored as Salesforce. You need to integrate with Oracle Commerce to make customized stores and design storefront pages.

Quotes, Orders and Contracts Management

Salesforce consistently outperforms Oracle in this module as well with its robust automatic order creation and contract management capabilities. Oracle CX Sales offers AI-based sales insights and compensation dashboards that let managers incentivize top performers with rewards and encourage healthy competition. The platform helps define sales goals and measure individual and team performance based on sales objectives. You can also view current, past and future sales forecasts to make informed decisions.

Workflows and Process Automation

Salesforce allows users to automate standard internal processes and set validation rules to prevent inaccurate data from entering the system. With add-ons like Process Builder and Flow Builder, users can set up automated approval procedures.
