AutoCAD Plant 3D is an extension of AutoCAD, a computer-aided design (CAD) application intended for engineers, architects and construction experts to develop 2D and 3D drawings of products and workpieces with precision.

It allows users to plan, study and produce 2D geometry and 3D models with solids, surfaces, and mesh objects as well as automate tasks such as cross-referencing illustrations, attaching blocks, developing schedules and more. It also offers crafting and revising of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) in addition to extracting piping orthographics and isometrics with industry-specified toolsets for plant design.

AutoCAD Plant 3D authorizes users to edit structures by altering the structural member settings or matching their qualities to other structures in the illustration.
