One Touch EMR Benefits and Insights

Why use One Touch EMR?

Key differentiators & advantages of One Touch EMR

  • Comprehensive Patient Encounters: Physicians give better care by having all patient information at their fingertips. Medical records are comprehensive, logging all patient encounters, medications, history, physical exams and more. Patient records and charts can be actionable, with exit links for billing, communication and more.
  • Centralize Practice Management: Practices can manage their schedules, supplies and patient care all in-platform. A robust calendar feature lets physicians build their schedules around each others’ with multiple-person views. Advanced supply and prescription logging lets them determine the status of orders and inventory. Deep patient records are intertwined with the first two, synthesizing and streamlining care efforts.
  • Reduce Costs: Scalable pricing lets practices decide what features are important and what they can afford. A free plan provides all basic features. Higher scales enable more advanced features, such as medical voice dictation and on-site data backup, and expand on included features, like e-prescribing and telemedicine video.
  • Mobile Support: Practices can access the platform from nearly any web-enabled device. IOS apps and browser delivery mean providers can access all their information on-the-go.

Industry Expertise

One Touch EMR was developed by Robert Abbate after he failed to find an adequate EMR system for his practice and expanded on by developers later on. It has been on the market for a decade, serving small and medium clinics.

  • Multiple Support Channels: Users can access help through various channels, including help videos, online chat, and call-based support, ensuring their questions are answered promptly.

Cons

  • Support Response Time: While One Touch EMR is praised for its customer support, some users have reported slow response times, leading to prolonged downtime and self-implemented fixes.
  • Template Functionality: Users have expressed frustration with limitations in template customization, particularly the inability to cut and paste templates, hindering efficient workflow.

Researcher's Summary:

Is One Touch EMR the one to watch in the crowded EMR market? User reviews from the last year suggest it just might be, particularly for smaller practices looking for an intuitive and mobile-friendly solution. Users rave about its clean interface, praising its ease of navigation and accessibility across various devices. One user, for example, highlighted how One Touch EMR streamlined their pre-encounter process, making it a breeze to review patient charts and demographics. This echoes the sentiment that One Touch EMR is a breath of fresh air compared to more cumbersome systems.

However, it's not all sunshine and roses. The most consistent gripe from users revolves around customer support. While some users find the support team helpful, others describe frustratingly slow response times, particularly during the initial setup phase. This inconsistency in customer experience, a common pain point for many software solutions, is something potential users should weigh carefully. Another recurring criticism targets the limitations of template customization. While One Touch EMR offers templates, users express a desire for greater flexibility in tailoring them to their specific workflows.

Despite these drawbacks, the overall sentiment leans positive. Users consistently highlight One Touch EMR's intuitive design and robust functionality as major selling points, especially for practices seeking a user-friendly system that doesn't require extensive training. The ability to manage appointments, prescriptions, and even lab integrations seamlessly within a single platform is a significant draw for many. Ultimately, One Touch EMR appears well-suited for smaller practices or those transitioning from paper-based systems, prioritizing ease of use and accessibility over highly granular customization options.

Key Features

  • Dashboard: An overarching welcome page gives practices a daily view of schedule, orders, labs, patient information and more. It lets physicians stay organized from an integrated space.
  • Calendar: A calendar provides up to five providers’ schedules simultaneously, and allows for schedule altering, including creating appointments.
  • Encounter Summary: Patient encounters go in-depth with all relevant information to give providers the complete picture when deciding on treatment. Patient history, history of present illness, vitals, medications and allergies, physical exams and more all have customizable templates for outlining patient encounters and treatment.
  • Communications: Providers can communicate with coworkers or patients in-platform. It allows phone calls to be made from a patient’s chart, with internal faxing and document sending to internal and external locations.
  • Superbill: A superbill is attached to the patient encounter summary. Service level can be selected from a drop-down list. Superbills can go through admin for approval, then can be exported as a PDF or printed.
  • Reports: Reports include labs, prescription refills, clinical, meaningful use and health maintenance. These reports can be generated in-platform and exported.
  • Treatment Plans: It supports future lab and procedure request management. It can enroll patients in health maintenance plans, fill prescriptions and request orders from outside facilities.
  • Orders and Lab Feed: It tracks all orders and lab requests, logging specifics such as medications and supplies involved. Search filters allow providers to thoroughly sort through their orders and requests for administration purposes.
