- Combines Data Science and BI: Mode’s combined workflow helps analysts and stakeholders come together to analyze their data and find answers to important business questions.

- Improves Data Democracy: With SQL knowledge not necessary to use the platform, Mode helps users of all data literacy levels as well as stakeholders share understanding and dig into the details that matter via self-service BI.
- Saves Time Through Automation: Through query history, autocomplete and other tools, Mode analyzes and delivers data faster with automation. Data always stays fresh with scheduled automated reports that seamlessly deliver insights to decision makers and encourage discussions.
- Collaborative Analysis: With its shared SQL editor and shared notebooks, Mode eliminates the tedious and error-prone processes of passing around continuously changing code, ensuring that all analysts can stay on the same page.
- Security: All connections to Mode are encrypted in both directions, only over HTTPS, and the platform complies with SOC2 Type II Trust Principles, Privacy Shield and HIPAA regulations. It requires two-factor authentication and strong password controls for administrative access, enables single sign-on and provides audit logs. Mode Reviews
Based on our most recent analysis, Mode reviews indicate a 'excellent' User Satisfaction Rating of 92% based on 183 user reviews from 3 recognized software review sites.
Key Features
- SQL Editor: Mode’s shared online SQL editor allows users to organize all their analytical work in one place. Analysts can establish definitions once to create shared knowledge. Users can speed up analysis through SQL by accessing previous queries and their result and having the editor’s “auto complete” function help them write queries faster.
- Notebooks: Query results are automatically loaded into notebooks, where users can perform advanced analysis in native Python or R, without switching applications. Built-in documentation with a sidebar full of tips and shortcuts help users navigate their notebooks, which they can later share in a number of ways — with an R- or Python-powered dashboard, cells copied and pasted into reports, or by sharing the whole notebook.
- Ad-Hoc Reporting: Users can mix and match the elements they want to highlight and create custom data visualizations that directly address certain problems with recommended actions. These reports update automatically and users can schedule them to go out on a regular basis to team members, with the confidence that the information reflected is always the latest data.
- Helix Data Engine: Mode automatically streams query results into its in-memory database, Helix, an engine that is designed for filtering and manipulating query results for further analysis. It is an on-demand data extract that enables faster analytics than connecting BI to a full-scale data warehouse.
- Visualization Builder: Users can visualize their SQL results with a chart builder and personalize these graphs with an HTML editor and custom colors. Drag-and-drop charts, text blocks, and interactive tables, parameters and filters simplify the data storytelling process.
- Data Exploration: Through interactive dashboards, filters and drag-and-drop visualization, users can drill down or zoom out to explore their insights on their own to get the information they need. Automation: Users can set it and forget it by establishing a query schedule to deliver analytics on a recurring basis and set up webhooks that alert them when key metrics fall above or below certain thresholds. Integrations: Mode can connect to a wide range of data warehouses, event tracking, ETL and transformation pipeline sources in minutes, including Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Impala, Microsoft Azure, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake and more. It also connects to Slack and Wordpress plugins to spark conversations where the decisions are made.
- Dashboards: Users can create interactive, TV-ready dashboards that automatically refresh with the latest data. Users can define parameters and filters through which to interact with dashboards to dig deeper. Dashboards can be customized via a branded theme or HTML editor.
- Embedded Analytics: Users can deliver white-label embeds to their customers to integrate customizable, interactive analytics into their applications. They can build their parameters, queries and dashboards and then embed the analytics within their app with Javascript or an iFrame in just a few minutes.
Limitations
Some of the product limitations* may include:
- Users may experience some lags in fetching data and editing notebooks.
