We’ve all been there at some point — sitting in a not-so-comfortable chair, staring at the clock as your doctor’s appointment is running behind schedule once again. A trip to the doctor is the last way most people want to spend their day, and the time it takes — from filling out paperwork to simply waiting around — doesn’t help by any means. Healthcare providers understand this and are doing whatever they can to speed up patient visits and improve patient satisfaction. One of the tools providers are benefiting from is cloud medical billing software.

The use of medical billing software allows healthcare providers to spend more time on patient care and less time keeping track of billing. From scheduling an appointment all the way up through payment, billing software automates the entire billing workflow process, step by step. As healthcare becomes increasingly mobile and information is needed to be shared between facilities, cloud-based solutions are continuously becoming the preferred form of deployment for medical billing software, as opposed to on-premise. Cloud-based solutions provide all the tools and functions you need out of your billing software without any of the hassles.

Primary Benefits

In recent years, cloud-based billing solutions have become increasingly popular for a variety of reasons, from its accessibility to the money that can be saved from added staffing. Opposed to an on-premise solution, a cloud-based (also referred to as web-based) medical billing software solution runs on a remote server. By being accessible on virtually any device with internet capabilities, cloud billing systems let clinicians perform billing tasks using their phones or tablets. This saves healthcare providers time as well as expedites the number of patients that can be seen in a given day.

In addition to increased mobility, cloud-based servers are eliminating the time and money associated with the extra staff required for on-premise solutions. Rather than needing your own IT team on-site to deal with issues that arise, your software vendor’s support team can handle upgrades, troubleshooting or maintenance. Depending on your support needs, you may consider certain software vendors that offer 24/7 support.

With so many options out there, choosing the right medical billing solution for your healthcare facility can be quite the challenge. It’s important to know your facility’s unique requirements and wants beforehand and then choose a software with the appropriate functions and capabilities to accomplish those needs. Here, we break down the top five cloud-based medical billing software vendors, in no particular order:

DrChrono

A big plus for this particular software vendor lies in its integration capabilities. By integrating medical billing with DrChrono, patient information only needs to be entered once, and that data can then be automatically stored and passed on to billing. In business information technology, billing software states to programs that manage the tracing of billable goods and services distributed to a client or set of customers. Some of the billing software also tracks labor hours for billing purposes. These kinds of programs systematize much of what used to be a time taking practice of organizing invoices or other documentation.

We prefer Kareo ourselves, but as a medical billing group you have to be flexible to what your clients want and their contractual obligations. Nice write-up, you could have added a bunch more, but nice!!
